On March 3rd, Anette Sagen will be the first official ski jumper to soar from the new Holmenkollen ski jump. The event will be open to the public.

The City of Oslo listened to the voice of the people and will give the honour of taking the first jump to our best female ski jumper.

- It is fantastic and only fitting that Anette will jump first. She is a pioneer and a symbol for all women ski jumpers, says Claes Brede Bråthen, Sporting Director for Ski Jumping.

Free public festival at Holmenkollen
On March 3rd from 19:00 - 20:00 there will be a public festival at the new Holmenkollen National Arena. The festivities begin with an official opening of the ski jump. Then Sagen will jump, followed by 19 male ski jumpers. The evening wraps up with a prize ceremony and fireworks. Admission is free for everyone.

- We hope this will be a beautiful and solemn opening of the new facilities at Holmenkollen and we encourage everyone who wants a closer look at the world's most modern ski arena to join us, says Fabian Stang, the Mayor of Oslo.

The public is urged to leave their cars at home and take the subway to Besserud station and walk up the last little stretch. The entrance to the Holmenkollen National Arena will be situated in Kongveien at the edge of the ski jump. Only the upper stands will be available for use.
